After a curtailed tournament due to bad weather, both Bandon Grammar School and CBS Sexton Street will be playing in their first ever Munster Schools T20 final, when they face-off at the Mardyke this afternoon (12pm start).
Having built their foundations over the past number of years, Bandon have been the standout side in the tournament, winning all of their games thus far, including beating last year’s finalists PBC by an eye-watering 183 runs in April.
These sides met at the start of the month, with Bandon winning by 6 wickets, but as the new kids on the block, CBS Sexton Street will have little fear coming down to Cork tomorrow, having comfortably defeated PBC and Midleton College already in this truncated season.
A stunning day’s weather is expected on Leeside, and having disrupted so much of the competition thus far, it’s only fair that the two sides who have worked so hard to get to this competition, will have their day under the sun.
It will be an exciting day for both, and hopes are we’ll be seeing many of those players who have represented their schools with distinction thus far in action for their local club sides as the All Rounder Munster Cricket divisions heat up, along with the weather.
